The basics
What is DropVio?
DropVio is an ordering platform built around drops. You announce a batch, your customers order and pay online, and you make exactly what sold. No guesswork, no waste, no unsold inventory.
What is a drop?
A drop is a limited release of what you make, sold through your own page with a countdown, a menu, and a pickup or delivery window. When the drop closes, you know exactly what to make and who is coming.
Who is DropVio for?
Anyone who makes food and sells it in batches: sourdough bakers, bagel makers, pastry chefs, pizza makers, meal prep cooks, pop up chefs, and cottage food businesses of every kind.
Do I need to be tech savvy?
No. If you can make it, you can drop it. DropVio builds your store, your checkout, and your customer tools. There is nothing to install and no code to touch.
Pricing and fees
How much does DropVio cost?
One plan: 2.5% plus $0.30 per paid order, with $0 monthly. Every feature is included. There is a one time $99 Merchant Launch and Activation Fee when your store opens.
Is there a monthly subscription?
No. There is no monthly platform fee. You pay the per order fee only when you sell, plus the one time $99 launch fee when your store opens.
What does the $99 launch fee cover?
Your store setup, your first drop configured, and your account activation. It is charged once, when your store opens, and never again.
How much does texting cost?
Texting is $0.03 per text, incoming and outgoing. Drop alerts, waitlist offers, two way conversations, and order updates all bill the same way.
How much does email cost?
Email delivery is included for stores up to 2,000 customers. Above that it is $30 a month and includes up to 50,000 emails per month.
What about card processing fees?
Card processing is handled by Stripe and billed at Stripe's published rates, separate from DropVio fees. Your customers pay you directly through your own Stripe account.
Do I need my own Stripe account?
Yes. Every baker, chef, and independent maker opens a Stripe account in their own name. DropVio connects that account to your store so customers pay you directly and Stripe deposits your sales into your bank account. We help you link it when your store is set up.
Are there different plans or tiers?
No. There is one plan with every feature. You never pay more to unlock tools.
Is the pricing final?
DropVio pricing is a proposal awaiting final approval, not an active billing offer. It will be confirmed before launch.
Your store and your drops
Do I get my own website?
Yes. Every drop gets its own page with your items, photos, a countdown, pickup times, and secure checkout. Share the link anywhere and people buy direct from your page.
Can I schedule drops in advance?
Yes. Schedule drops ahead of time, and the platform opens and closes ordering for you. You can run weekly drops, one off releases, or anything in between.
Can I limit how much I sell?
Yes. Set capacity per item or per drop. When you sell out, the page shows it, so you never oversell your kitchen.
Can I offer pickup time slots?
Yes. Customers choose a pickup window at checkout, and your kitchen and schedule views organize the day around those slots.
What about sold out items?
Items mark themselves sold out when capacity is reached. Customers can join a waitlist and get notified when the next drop opens.
Can I sell merchandise too?
Yes. A merchandise shop with shipping is included, so you can sell shirts, hats, and anything else alongside your food.
Can I offer gift cards and discount codes?
Yes. Gift cards and discount codes are built in, including fixed amount and percentage discounts.
Orders, payments, and kitchen
How do customers pay?
Customers pay online at checkout with their card. Payment runs through your own Stripe account, the one you open and own, and orders show up in your dashboard the moment they are paid.
What does the kitchen see?
A live make list showing exactly what to produce, plus pickup slots organized by time, so bake day runs on rails.
Can I see my numbers?
Yes. An insights dashboard shows revenue, orders, and items sold after every drop, so you always know how the business is doing.
Can customers look up their order?
Yes. Customers can look up their order status themselves, which means fewer messages for you to answer on drop day.
Customers and marketing
Can I text my customers?
Yes. Two way texting is built in: drop alerts, waitlist offers, order updates, and real conversations, all from one inbox.
Can I email my customers?
Yes. Email campaigns are included, with delivery covered for stores up to 2,000 customers.
What is a waitlist?
When a drop sells out, customers join a waitlist. When you open the next drop, they get notified first, so your regulars never miss out.
Can I reward my regulars?
Yes. VIP early access lets your best customers order before everyone else, and win back campaigns reach customers who have gone quiet.
Can I collect reviews?
Yes. Review requests go out after pickup, and you moderate what appears on your page.
Do I own my customer list?
Yes. Your customers are yours. You can import your list when you join and export it whenever you like.
Switching and getting started
How is DropVio different from Hotplate?
DropVio takes 2.5% plus $0.30 per order instead of 5% plus $0.55, includes every tool in one plan, and was built inside a working food business. On a $30 order that is $1.05 versus $2.05 in platform fees.
Can I move my customers from another platform?
Yes. Customer import tools let you bring your list with you, including from Hotplate, so your regulars come along.
How do I get started?
Reach out through the contact page and tell us what you make. We will get your store set up, configure your first drop, and activate your account.
Where is DropVio located?
DropVio is based in San Clemente, California, and works with independent food businesses anywhere.
